Co-owner of a Eastwest Yoga – A Yoga studio in Auckland, NZ

2. Give us a run down… a day in the life of…
5.30am rise and shine 6am Morning Yoga – right now I’m practicing and LOVING Ashtanga Yoga which takes me about 90mins – 2 hours, 6 mornings a week, and is practiced in complete silence. Amazing way to start the day! Post Yoga, my mornings are spent refuelling with yum food and coffee, then into the studio to do anything from teaching, emails, updating our website, cleaning the bathrooms, connecting with students and teachers. Often I’ll grab lunch with a friend or my mama (who is also my business partner) and my dog Bailey who is fab. Afternoons back into the studio and given my early starts by the time 6pm rolls round I’m almost ready for bed (wild, I know).

3. What inspired you to pursue your career?
I went through some tough years as a teenager struggling with Bulimia and periods of depression. Practicing yoga and a mindfulness tool called The Work of Byron Katie, are what supported me to turn my life around. Since then I have dedicated my time and energy to these practices, first and foremost for my own healing and then upskilling so I can share them with others. I have experienced first-hand the power of this work and its ability to totally change my experience of life. Now my passion is to share these practices with others so that they are empowered with tools that support them to work through stress and suffering and find more peace within themselves.
4. What is the most valuable lesson you have learned so far in life?
I am 100% responsible for my own happiness. It is no one else’s job to make me happy but mine.

5. Who is your role model?
My Mama. It was watching her commitment to happiness and peace that inspired and motivated me to confront my own demons and pursue the path I’m on now. She has supported me on this journey 100% of the way.

6. How would you describe your own personal style?
Active wear, Active wear and more active wear.

7. What should every girl have in their wardrobe and why?
Yoga tights. Surprise, surprise.
8. What’s your beauty regime?
This is an area I could definitely improve on. I keep it fairly simple: Cleanse + moisturise (body and face) Floss and brush teeth (a must) Oh, and lately I’ve been ending my shower with a minimum of 30 seconds cold water. Apparently, it improves circulation and boosts metabolism but the real reason I do it is it wakes me up and makes me feel great (once the shock wears off). Let’s see if this still makes me feel good in the peak of Winter…

9. What city are you desperate to visit?
I’m off to Byron Bay in Australia for 3 months soon. Now I know it’s not a city, but it’s a pretty magical place, and I’m definitely excited.
10. If you were stranded on a desert island, what 3 items would you need the most?
My Yoga Mat, Moisturiser, Paper + pen

11. Favourite item currently on The Circuit and why?
The McGhee Pants by M.A.Dainty. Comfort and style rolled into one. Yes please.

12. Quote of the day! What are your words to live by?
I have a whole album on my phone dedicated to quotes. Today I will go with: “It’s not your job to like me… its mine!” - Byron Katie
